Distance

The long view to me is part of the glory of the west. At a distance the light moves on the land and cloud shadows carve new canyons in fleeting patterns that have always been fascinating to the painter and magical to behold.

Greenriver Late in the Day

Oil on canvas 33”x18”

Seasons

Every season in the western United States brings its own secrets, pleasures, and textures. Finding ways to record the moments of turning seasons makes a constantly fascinating story.

Oracles

The ancient Etruscans believed that the flight of birds could predict and explain the incredible course of events. I often paint these sacred patterns.
